WWI at Home Pt 25
Arthur Morey Fellows was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant August 5, 1917. He served with the 39th Infantry, The Fighting Falcons, at the battle of Lorraine and Meuse-Argonne where he was wounded in September 1918. He returned to the field, rising to the rank of Captain in November 1918. Captain Fellows returned to Camp Lewis in August 1919 where he was discharged.
Art was nicknamed “Pink” by his friends and relatives because of his red hair. He went to work for the Northern Pacific Railway, as his father had done, until a strike caused him to change to the wholesale fruit business. Later, he and his wife, Freda Rupp, ran a neighborhood grocery store in Yakima.
