Clarence Harr

Clarence John Harr enlisted in the Navy October 4, 1917. He served aboard the USS Kearsarge in the North Atlantic.

Clarence was noted as a baseball player and pitched in many local and Spokane games. While he was stationed at Mare Island and in Virginia, he pitched in Navy teams. He was promoted to petty officer and was in charge of a considerable group of men for most of his time in service. After his discharge June 1920, Clarence returned to the Cheney community and engaged in farming and the buying and selling of livestock.

Arthur E. Scheel of Cheney was a student at the Normal School when he joined the Navy October 3, 1917. He assigned as a guard while training in San Francisco.
