Twenty-five years ago on June 19, 1990, fire gutted the old, vacant, Congregational Church on 4th at F Street. The fire was believed to have been started by a 10-year-old boy and his friends who had been seen playing with fire in the area that day. On Sunday Dec. 11, 1881, Congregational Church dedicated its wooden church building on 4th near corner with F Street in Cheney, Washington. The building was 30’ x 50’ with a 10’ x 10’ tower which was 75’ high. The church could seat 300, and had a 500 lb bell given to the congregation by Rev. Cushing Eells.
